## What makes the price move

**The drawing first:** the flat canopy is plain and quick to forge, the fan and its scrollwork take hours, the corner canopy requires a bespoke study. **Then the size:** going from 120 to 200 cm wide adds material and time. **Finally the glazing:** laminated and wired glass cost more than polycarbonate but age better — our guide to [glass for door canopies](https://marquise-fer.fr/en/glass-for-door-canopies/) compares every option.

Weighing up a salvaged piece instead? Read first what a [reclaimed door canopy](https://marquise-fer.fr/en/reclaimed-door-canopies/) really costs (removal, adaptation, restoration) and what a [period canopy](https://marquise-fer.fr/en/victorian-door-canopies/) restored properly is worth.

Two things change nothing in the price: the colour (black, bronze green, any RAL) and — for passages — the exact shape from the survey. For the wider French market beyond canopies, see the [Le Fer Forgé price guide](https://le-fer-forge.fr/guides/prix-marquise-fer-forge/) (in French).

Frequently asked

## Prices: your questions

Why does a fan cost more than a flat canopy?

The drawing: a fan with nine scalloped ribs and scrolled brackets takes three times the forge hours of a flat canopy. Workshop time makes the price.

Is the glazing included?

Yes, standard glazing included (44.2 laminated or polycarbonate depending on the model). Period-look wired glass and a zinc gutter are options.

What does an exact reproduction add?

15 to 25 % over the nearest catalogue drawing, depending on complexity — from photographs and a survey of your original canopy.

What about delivery and customs?

Carriage is quoted per destination as its own line. Within the EU nothing further is due on delivery. For the United Kingdom and Switzerland we quote the landed cost, with customs clearance and import VAT shown separately, so the figure you accept is the figure you pay.
