Why a specialist in the door canopy alone?

The door canopy is one of the few pieces of ironwork visible from the street: it signs a façade as much as it shelters it. That deserves better than a catalogue hood picked in a hurry. By concentrating on the canopy alone, we document every model with its dimensioned drawing, its real sizes and its price — and we know how to reproduce a period design exactly, to a standard the French heritage architects will approve.

All our canopies share the same specification: solid iron (never hollow tube, which rusts from the inside), hot-dip galvanising by immersion, then powder coating. That is what separates a fifty-year piece from a ten-year consumable. To place your project within ironwork as a whole, the Le Fer Forgé network documents gates, grilles and balustrades (in French); to have it fitted near you in France, compare three craftsmen’s quotes.

Buying from France: what to expect

Every canopy is made in Europe and quoted in euros, carriage shown as its own line. Within the EU there is nothing to declare and nothing extra to pay on delivery. For the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we quote the landed cost — canopy, carriage, customs clearance and import VAT set out separately — so the figure you accept is the figure you pay. Lead time is six to eight weeks from confirmation of the drawing, whichever the destination.

Frequently asked

Door canopies: your questions

What does a wrought iron door canopy cost?
From €1,200 for a flat canopy to €5,000 for a large fan or a corner canopy, supplied in solid galvanised iron, glazing included, excluding fitting. See the price guide.
Can you reproduce an antique canopy exactly?
Yes, from photographs and a survey: ribs, scalloped edge and brackets are re-forged identically in new solid galvanised iron. Add 15 to 25 % depending on complexity.
Where do you deliver?
France and Belgium as standard, and by quotation to Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The canopy travels glazed up to 150 cm; beyond that the glass follows separately and takes 30 minutes to fit. For the UK, customs clearance and import VAT are quoted as separate lines so the landed cost is clear before you order.
Do you work in imperial measurements?
Send your figures in whichever unit you have — inches, feet and inches, or centimetres. The workshop converts and confirms the metric dimensions back to you in writing before anything is cut.
